Right from the start this book reaches out and grabs your attention. There’s no easing into the story at all, it’s one hundred precent octane starting with chapter one but then you get thrown off kilter with a hint of historical paranormal-ness that makes you blink. Suspenseful, check. Spicy, check. Humorous at times, check. The author’s best work, not so much but it really doesn’t matter, it’s a good story unless you’re a stickler for having all of your i’s dotted and your t’s crossed. If you are, skip this one. So it’s five stars for me on the romantic suspense front and maybe a three and a half stars on execution...we’ll call it a four star read this time.

In a lovely spin off series of the Fairy Garden mysteries we find ourselves back in Carmel, California and the terrific world our author has already intricately created. Carmel has gotten just a bit bigger with the opening of Emma’s spa but unfortunately a rival business owner and a long time frenemy ends up dead and Emma’s the main suspect. Determined to clear her name and find justice for Willow she snoops around with the help of a entertaining group of friends and family. Along the way you’re also the recipient of information about aromatherapy, crystals and yummy food. As always with this author’s books, it’s a hit in my book and meant to be savored! Enjoy!

When six infants are spirited away from the local hospital it’s all hands on deck, including Holmes...who is convinced he not only gave up addiction in rehab, but investigating, until an evil no one saw coming seeks him out and dares him to play the game again, leaving us hanging for book 3. All in all, a solid if not thrilling outing in what hopes to be a long lasting series.
