The Broken One by Brittney Sahin is another HOT hit! Ella Mae Hawkins and Jesse McAdams are characters who have loved each other since they were young teens. However, due to Jesse’s past, dangerous, soul-eating military job, they haven’t succumbed to the inevitable marriage vows in order to keep Ella safe and Jesse sane. Readers become so invested in Sahin’s heroes who are tough, hard bitten, but loving people trying to make a living by protecting others. The plot line is filled with mystery, twists, and surprises that will keep book lovers glued to the pages until the very end of the story or until the alarm rings for work. The story has an incredibly convoluted plot, filled with incredibly likable characters, burdened with incredibly toxic secrets, overwhelmed with an incredibly passionate romance, and supported with an incredibly loving family. Sahin books are a heart-felt investment; it’s all there to keep readers interested, entertained, on the edge, and always wanting more.

PJ Fiala’s newest edition of the RAPTOR series entitled Craving Charlesia: A Protector Romance is another realistic look at child trafficking and gun running. She blends romance, danger, and evil into a credible tale of happily ever after. Charlesia Sampson or Charley as everyone calls her, a military veteran, and Sam Bowers, a police detective, fall in love amid a criminal investigation. It’s an instant love as the two have been attracted to each other for months. The plot is about two little girls that Charley has already rescued once before. They are again in danger because their mother sold them for drugs; no one in the system checked on them when they were returned to their parent. Now that Charley and Sam have found one of the females, most of the narrative revolves around looking for the other. Fiala writes some of the most realistic stories concerning gritty topics and gives enough details to attract readers, but not turn them off the narrative. The characters are vulnerable, personable, and relatable, and once readers get to know them, they are invested.
