I love a book that keeps me on the edge of my seat the whole way through. The book that keeps me guessing. The book where my emotions are on a roller coaster, and I can’t see how the happily ever after can possibly happen. This is that book. Book one in the Single Dads Hotline series is heartfelt, funny, sweet, romantic, but also contains a low level of tension that runs through the whole book that I could not get enough of.
Successful businessman Becker Hayes is an unexpected and reluctant single dad to his nieces. Out of his depth and for the first time in his life, finding that nothing is easy, Beck grabs the lifeline of an anonymous voice at the end of the Single Dad Hotline. Calm, cool, and in control with all the answers to his frantic questions in the middle of the night, the reassuring voice on the phone gives Beck comfort when nothing is going to plan.
Stella Anderson is holding on by a thread, working three jobs, because reasons. Stella floats through the background of everyone else’s life, making things easier for everyone but herself. Becoming indispensable in the hopes of keeping all the balls in the air that she’s been juggling. Stella is a lot of women I know. Hiding her light under a bushel basket, doing everything possible to distract from the fact that she’s one misstep away from disaster.
The fairy godfather in this story is Beck’s right-hand man, Elijah Sinclair. Elijah has become Stella’s best friend and the only person who knows both Stella’s and Beck’s secrets and thinks they’d be perfect for each other.
When all these forces come together in Beck’s childhood home of Sailport Bay, magic happens. The beach, the goofy dog, the endearing and hilarious kids, and the “helpful” townsfolk. But there are also a lot of secrets and pain that lie within the walls and inhabit every corner of the house. The tension ramps up with the introduction of a great villain that is so much fun to growl at. Never fear, though, we are guaranteed a happy ending by Avery Maxwell.
I firmly believe this is the author’s best book to date. It has everything I love in a great romance. Strong leads who aren’t afraid to be vulnerable, vivid side characters, cute kids, maddening villains, and emotionally powerful moments. I adore this book!

I loved everything about this book! So much humor and heart in the classic Amy Daws style.
Wyatt Fletcher has decided to become a single dad and is on the hunt for a surrogate to carry his baby. He lives with his two brothers on a remote Colorado mountain and is the epitome of grumpy. But when he interviews Trista for the job, he feels a shift in his very foundation, whether he wants to or not.
Trista doesn’t know what a real family looks like, other than the stray animals she keeps bringing home. She needs the money Wyatt is paying her to start a farm animal rescue, and she’s determined to feel nothing for the baby, Wyatt, or Wyatt’s family that takes her under their wing.
I adored Wyatt, Trista, their family, and their menagerie. This book is equal parts sweet, schmexy, funny, and heartfelt. I loved it!

As always, this powerhouse duo throws us a curveball.
Soraya sees a stuck-up suit on a train, and she can’t look away. When he leaves his phone behind, she grabs it intending to return it. After she goes through it, of course. When she tracks him down, he doesn’t make it easy to do a good deed, because Graham Morgan is indeed a stuck-up suit. And so begins the twisty, turny relationship road that is full of surprises and sexy times.

Lucy Score continues to delight and surprise me. She has evolved as a writer, and never stops perfecting her craft. Things We Hide from the Light is book two in the Knockemout series, and I never thought I could love a book more than Things We Never Got Over but guess what?!
Nash and Lina have that instant chemistry that I adore. As the police chief of Knockemout, VA, Nash feels the responsibility of keeping the town safe deeply. But what happens when he can’t do his job? Because reasons. (No spoilers here, folks) There’s more to Nash than the way he fills out his uniform pants, and I love nothing more than a wounded hero who is still trying to take care of everyone and everything around him.
Lina is only passing through town, ostensibly to visit her old friend, Knox, Nash’s brother. Or is she up to something murky and disreputable? Strong and bad-a$$ Lina is a wild card that we don’t know much about yet. But I promise you, the more you know Lina, the more you’ll love her. Lina is a cinnamon roll heroine! She’s sexy, capable, loyal, smart, and strong.
Of course, Lucy Score throws in an adorable rescue pet, vivid townspeople, a mystery, doofus villains, and some action adventure! This is a great book with many moving parts and a very nuanced story! I loved it! Nash and Lina are both strong, independent souls who are both coming to terms with vulnerability. My catnip.

The long-awaited story of Ashton Westbrook is here, and it does not disappoint! Ashton’s journey throughout this book is heartbreaking, revelatory, chaotic, funny, and beautiful.
When the bright star that is Nova Blaine plops down into Ashton’s orderly and staid life, he ramps up into alpha protector mode with little thought to how Nova feels about it. Their journey to love and life together and separately is what a great romance is all about. Nova can’t chase away Ashton’s demons, and Ash can’t slay Nova’s dragons. They must do the work themselves before they can be a proper partner to each other. I loved everything about this book. I love seeing all the Westbrook specialness, the friendships, the fun, and most of all the love.

I adored everything about this book! Tilly is hiding in plain sight, and Lochlan is not standing for that nonsense!
As the fixer, Tilly is used to putting everyone’s needs above her own, until she meets Lochlan at a wedding and suddenly, she wants more. She needs more. From him, and from herself. But Lochlan, rightfully so, is fiercely opposed to everything Tilly wants and needs, but the more he gets to know her, the more he wants her. Watching these two go head to head is the most rewarding book experience ever! I love a hard won happily ever after, and this one is the best!

The family we find, the family we make, and the family we are born to are all blended to make the most beautiful story!
When Colton first sees Winnie at an airport, he knows his life will never be the same. It takes Winnie much longer to trust that Colton will not let her down, for she has much to lose. Namely, her baby brother who you can’t help falling in love with. Colton and Winnie’s love story gave me the whole range of emotions, as any good romance does. And Colt is my favorite Westbrook hero! His patience, persistence, and determination were very sexy! I loved this book!

I’m a sucker for a hot, alpha protector type and the strong woman who may or may not need protecting. Marcus and Missy fit the bill perfectly. Marcus is second-in-command at the shadowy Hidden Justice, an organization that hunts down human traffickers and exterminates them. When he finds the emaciated Melissa during his latest raid, he knows it’s a game changer for him. And of course, nothing is as it seems with Missy. I loved this couple, and I loved their love!

Again, Lucy Score hits it out of the park. I didn’t think anything could surpass my love for Ms. Score’s By a Thread, but Things We Never Got Over surpassed that in spades! I loved this book so, so much!
Knox Morgan is that alpha grumpy guy that we all love to see turn to mush for the woman he loves. And Naomi Witt is that worthy woman. It’s no surprise that Knox has big family issues that make him reticent to give his heart away. Naomi has her own seemingly insurmountable family issues. Namely, an evil twin sister who leaves death and destruction in her wake, as well as abandoning her child to Naomi’s care. Knox and Naomi have some huge problems they need to fix, together and separately, before they can conquer a relationship along with parenting a precocious 11-year-old. And for once, Knox cannot fix the problems by throwing money at it. I loved seeing Knox’s transformation from a grumpy barber to a loving family man, and I loved seeing Naomi find her confidence and her voice.

The newest offering in the Riley Thorn mystery series is fast paced and fun! We see Riley and her boyfriend Nick once again helping to solve a murder mystery along with Riley’s octogenarian (and hilarious) neighbors, her spirit guide, Gabe, and her formidable grandmother, Elanora.
I could not put this down; the pacing is quick and tight, and the side characters are engaging. The murder mystery is compelling and just this side of ridiculous, which is just the way I like my murders. The romance between Nick and Riley progresses beautifully and the steam coming off them as they search for clues is hot, hot, hot! I loved every wild minute!
