BingeBooks launches book clubs

Live chats between authors and their readers bring books to life

SAN FRANCISCO – March 15, 2021 – Book lovers are uniting to read and discuss their favorite fiction titles with the authors who wrote them. Hosted on live virtual town halls, BingeBooks, an online community to foster book discovery, is launching book clubs that bring together authors and their readers to chat about plot, themes and characters — but no spoilers, please!

“Anyone can join our book clubs and interact in a cozy online setting,” said Alessandra Torre, CEO of BingeBooks. “We’ve already had wonderful conversations between authors and their readers. Book lovers are learning what motivates authors to write and why they chose a certain storyline or portrayed a character in a certain way.”

While BingeBooks launched its own book club featuring a book of the month and a live author chat, the company also encourages other book club organizers to do the same.

In a book club on BingeBooks, readers can recruit fellow book lovers and authors and then take advantage of the following:

  • Create a public or private group to choose a book, set a reading deadline and discuss aspects of the book as you go along
  • Invite authors so club members can ask questions directly or hear a reading
  • Participate in round-robin question and answer sessions with authors
  • Learn more about their favorite plotlines and characters
  • Meet other readers who share similar reading and author interests
  • Explore new books and authors
  • Share the experience with friends and family

The next BingeBooks Book Club meet-up takes place Tuesday, March 30, at 3 p.m. Eastern. Bestselling adventure author Wayne Stinnett will field questions from participants about his book  Rising Moon: A Jesse McDermitt Novel. Add your questions for Stinnett by posting in the group’s topic page.

To date, BingeBooks has more than 200,000 titles from all Big Five publishing houses and more than 47,000 independent and traditional authors in its database. There is no charge for book clubs to create their own group, for readers to use the site or for authors to post their books that are sold at major online retailers.
