I honestly love Tijan’s writing style, and in Hockey With Benefits, she has once again demonstrated her word wizardry. The catch is I’m a new reader of the Crew Series, and although her latest standalone offering is one of my fave sub-genres, there were intervals when I was trying to place and remember the students’ names and their respective sports clubs.

That said, Tijan’s heroine is an unforgettable character. Learning how Mara Daniels ticks, the reason she’s not exactly a people person and doesn’t do serious relationships is heartbreaking stuff. The first impression she gave me was wow–we’ve got a tough one here! But that couldn’t be further from the truth. Tijan has delved into intense family issues and even wove disturbing happenings in the story, leaving me speechless.

Mara gives her few faithful friends a wide berth, yet they’re always on her side. And Cruz Styles? Words fail me. To say he is a patient and generous soul is putting it mildly. So, he has this thing going on with her, but I liked that he was mindful of her wishes. However, their no-strings-attached arrangement also got me thinking. How long would it be before they overstepped agreed boundaries? Observing their emotional vulnerabilities, his possessiveness and not just towards Mara, but his family too, made me tear up.

There never seemed to be a right time for peace in their story—yeah, drama abounds in every unimaginable corner, but Mara’s change of attitude towards getting between the sheets stumped me. Aah, like Cruz, I cottoned on to her concerns pretty quickly, and get this, his admiration for her is more noteworthy than I ever thought possible. Kudos galore to Tijan. She made them stronger to face their pasts and get ahold of the present. There’s no doubt about it. Cruz sold me in so many ways. And turn down your winter heating, folk! Their oh-so-hot chemistry isn’t just fanning material; it’s the bomb!

I did so want to give this college sports romance all the stars. Tijan’s unique dual point of view storytelling, her truncated sentence usage, which I am always in awe of, and her excellent character development, is unquestionably hers to own lock, stock and barrel. And the witty banter from all those involved was simply beyond my expectations. If it weren’t for the name fraternity/sorority confusion, rating Mara and Cruz’s story would have been a piece of cake. Having had my say, if you’re familiar with the Fallen Crest/Crew Series, you’ll have no difficulty putting this book down.

I wished hard for Jake’s book, and I can’t tell you how grateful I am to Hunting for granting it. This series is for me, All In! Her latest offering is the end of a new beginning and although the three previous books can be read as standalones, to enjoy A Kiss for a Kiss to the fullest, I highly recommend reading them first. So, I followed the guys and gals on their quest for happiness, shed tears, laughed out loud and more often than not, wanted to jump into their books and give them a good talking to!

Hunting creates an enormous amount of character, plot and narrative depth, this novel is no exception. But more importantly, she’s switched genre to explore some pretty serious stuff. Her trademark banter that I've come to love so much and emotionally charged dialogue not only drive the story forward but was a delight to read.

I’d already fallen for Jake, Queenie’s dad and manager of the Seattle NHL team in A Secret for a Secret and Hanna, a rock in Ryan’s life, left a huge impact on me. Their news is quite the shocker, but observing the Seattle girls’ enthusiasm and the way they took her under their wing warmed my heart. Save one whom I’d have gladly knocked some sense into, their spouses are All In. So, most of their thoughts regarding Jake and Hanna’s situation were in tune with mine, and I have to add that Bishop’s remarks were totally in keeping with his gorgeousness. Revisiting The Knight Cap in Kiss My Cupcake brought back happy reading memories, too.

Whoever thinks passion isn’t alive in our mid-forties is mistaken; Jake and Hanna’s scorching suggestiveness is the perfect example. Brilliant if not moving conversation pulled out all the stops—how Hanna feels about her parent’s past support, how Jake coped as a single parent and what’s waiting on the horizon. Once more, decisions need to be made, and logistics and work have to be taken into consideration even though it’s complicated, I loved every heart-wrenching moment of it. I could go on and on, but seeing as this is such a special read and I don’t want to spoil it for you, I’m not even going to cite the quotes I’d highlighted.

Hunting’s driven home the importance of family values and friendship in the best possible light. Her handling of certain delicate issues was exceptionally well-done, and if you fancy a carefully nuanced tale of love that gives you all the feels and leaves a smile on your face, this one will be right up your alley! Bravo, Hunting!
This book came at a time when I really needed cheering up, and Hunting’s narrative did just that. Warning: drinking hot tea while reading is risky. I spat mine over my PJ bottoms from laughing so hard! But seriously, A Secret for a Secret isn’t all laughs and giggles, it’s a standalone opposites-attract hockey romance with just the right amount of angst, swoon-worthy moments and loveable characters. And of course, as it’s book 3 in the All In Series, I got to meet up with my favourite players and their ladies again.

I confess that Bishop Winslow stole my heart in A Favor for a Favor, but now he’s running a close second with Ryan Kingston better known as King to his mates. This guy is perfect! Not only does he have a calming influence on the entire Seattle NHL team, but he’s also a damn good goalie. Ryan likes to live an orderly life and goes out of his way not to the break rules. I chuckled to myself when he got behind the wheel and ooh my, he surprised the pants off me in the intimate scenes. Naughty man!

“Dude, Jake is going to shit his fucking pants if he finds out about this.”
“He already knows.”

But I loved his selflessness, the rapport he has with Bishop and even when a family member rocks the boat, he’s still forgiving. An unforgettable scenario that creased me up was his drink of choice. It isn't exactly what caused the unexpected and although he liked the flavour, it had its consequences! You’ll see why I saluted Ryan for his reaction to a bombshell dropped, too.

“...I want all your dark secrets to be mine to keep. I want all your pieces, all the things that make you who you are…”

I adored the pivotal part of Ryan and Queenie’s story at the beginning of the book...a little embarrassing for them both, their astonishment was tenfold when they met up again. Queenie’s between a rock and a hard place. Poor past decisions and an uncertain future have made this young woman a little bit anxious. Who better than Ryan to give her encouragement, especially seeing she's everything he isn’t. To her negative, he’s positive. She's disorganized, he's quite the reverse. However, she does have a mean sense of humour and watching her come into her own was a pleasure to read. I do so appreciate solid character development, Hunting hits the nail on the head with everyone's personality traits, shortcomings and attributes.

“And I’m still sorry about . . . how overzealous I was.”
“I happened to enjoy your overzealousness.”

Am I asking too much for Jake’s book because he really deserves one? I wonder if it was only me who felt something in the air. Queenie’s father is a real charmer and the woman who catches his eye plays such an important role in Ryan’s life, that this would be the bomb.

“You have blinders on when it comes to me, Dad, and I love you for it.”

Lavender, River, and all the kids--there are a lot of them in this story, are adorable. Their lives and that of their parents is like a lush voyage. With an imagination like the author's, I'd dance on the spot if there were a second-generation series.

“Queenie is a partner. She’s the olive to your pineapple.”
“That sounds awful.”

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Hunting captured all the feels, giving her readers a couple of excellent plot twists which I hadn’t bargained for, but were certainly welcomed and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend not just this novel, but the whole All In Series. Bravo!
Wow, this book titillates the reader in all the right places! I tried putting Hunting’s latest offering down at daft o’clock but to no avail, ‘cause it’s far, far too addictive. And although it’s a romantic comedy, the author’s take on a delicate subject gave the story such a sensitive touch it got me sniffling into my pillow more than once. Hunting’s gone back to ice hockey with this stand-alone spinoff from the highly popular Pucked Series which also happens to be a sport I adore. A Lie for a Lie is a marvellous read in the respect that most of the characters are lovely and relatable and make you want to be with them.

“Thank you for being my personal support person and human teddy bear.”

Chapter one and we’re in the now, RJ crossing paths with the gorgeous and timid Lainey. He picks up on her intense discomfort, calms her down and is so understanding, my heart melted. Ahh, but not being entirely frank with her could just come back and bite him where it hurts the most. Hmm...where could that be you may ask! I loved the way Hunting set the foundation of the plot so quickly, had me on edge and provoked all the feels at a page-turning pace.

‘There were a lot of women in a very short span of time. Sometimes more than one at a time. It was bad. I’m not proud.’

Well-known as a lady’s man, RJ’s got it all. NHL team captain, his drop-dead gorgeous looks attract the puck bunnies like bees to a honeypot. Not happy with the way he’s been running his personal life, he wants to escape their advances and be that normal kinda guy for a while. I really and truly liked RJ. Obviously well off, he never flaunts it. His teammates respect him, he gets on with their women, loves their kids and has a fabulous rapport with his siblings. In fact, I couldn’t find fault with him yet when he doesn’t come clean with Lainey, I could have strangled him.

“...And even if she’s willing to talk to me, once she realizes what else I left out she’ll probably never want to speak to me again.”

Lainey won be over at the drop of a hat. Her contrasting traits which funnily enough don’t clash, are so well-described that I ended up rooting for her throughout the read. To begin with, she comes across as quite nerdy. Her love of marine life habits is the reason she’s taken a trip to Alaska but she never expected her time there would evolve as it did. Everything goes wrong only to be righted. However, what would happen leaves confusion in its wake. Even though she was shy, she’d learnt to trust RJ and thought he had the same feelings for her as she had for him. Indeed, Hunting gave the story a powerful edge with all the goings-on and in the process, my attention didn’t waver for a minute.

“My respect for you just went up a few notches. I had no idea you were into the nerdy chicks.”
“She’s not nerdy,”

Although the book isn’t split into two parts, there’s definitely a before and after feel about it. The after hit me just as strongly since everything comes pouring out. And believe me, I wasn’t the only person who was left stunned, shocked, or even dazzled! I can’t say anything regarding the outcome of them finding each other again but wow, Hunting most certainly nipped it in the bud with her brilliant story-telling.

‘The man I was with in Alaska was kind and sweet and down-to-earth. But this . . . it’s completely different. And this is what his life is really like.’

Despite the team camaraderie and family ambience bowling me over, I had very mixed feelings for Lainley’s parents and saluted her when she stood up for herself. The title also gave me food for thought and I’d love you to decide for yourselves if not telling the truth or its omission can be considered a lie. In this case, distorting the truth and letting it slide was a lot easier than finding that perfect moment to confess. Of course, the big question here is whether they forgive each other. I can’t tell you how much I loved RJ and Lainey’s story overflowing with tenderness, surprises and plenty of smiles. Bravo Hunting!
Diving into A Favor for a Favor, book two in the All In Series which can be enjoyed as a standalone is as always with Hunting’s books, easy-peasy. However, if you read A Lie for a Lie #1 first which just happens to be one of my fave 2019 reads, you’ll get to meet Stevie’s brother, RJ and learn about the NHL team’s camaraderie. Hunting has yet again delivered a laugh-out-loud romance that has me snorting into the middle of the night! So be warned, if you pick the book up late evening, you could possibly cause a disturbance!

“You’re welcome for making sure you weren’t murdered last night.”
“Buy a pair of pants!”

Ooh. My. Gawd! Stevie and Bishop’s impression of each other was not good from the word go. Not surprising either. She’d irritated this bear of a man at daft o’clock and he wasn’t in any mood to cover up. Yep, he loves his sassy underwear! To top the lot, he jumps to conclusions without having the facts and being the cocky guy that he is, rubs her up the wrong way...no pun intended, of course!

‘I don’t know that I hate him, but I definitely don’t like him.’

How could I not fall for Stevie? She’s no pushover and Bishop and I kinda liked this, but their slow-burn friendship isn’t going to be plain sailing. No love lost between Bishop and RJ won’t help matters and as far as physical therapists go in this sport, it’s still a man’s world, so Stevie’s got to prove herself. She’s very, but very good at her job and her first patient is...guess who? I really liked observing how little by little, they began to feel more at home with each other. She’s Bishop’s hope, the woman who will help him get back on the ice. Hmm, now to see if they rock their professional boats or not because all said and done, work ethics have to be complied with.

“You’re being awfully cagey about her if she’s just a friend. Don’t think I can’t tell you’re trying to hide her.”

Bishop is all kinds of grumpy and it took me a while to understand how he ticked. One thing is for sure, he’ll bend over backwards for his younger brother who he feels is his responsibility. Hunting delves into an illness hard to live with, her references are accurate and enlightening. But who fell out of favour with me this time around which is weird seeing as I really connected with him in A Lie For A Lie was RJ. He has so much attitude in this book that I could have gladly strangled him!

“You can’t date a hockey player.”
“Are you kidding me?”

Great side players and although Stevie wound me up a tad with a past issue, I got eventually got her drift when it all came back to bite her. I liked the pacing of this light-hearted book with a touch of angst—you’ll see what’s bothering these two loveable characters by reading it, and the banter on all levels is fabulous! The narration from a dual perspective in present worked perfectly in this thoroughly enjoyable enemies-to-friends-to-lovers rom-com with all its amorous obstacles cleverly portrayed. Bravo Hunting!

Love a read that brings out all the oohs and ahhs? Then Kiss My Cupcake with its cuteness overload is for you! Hunting’s teamed up two business rivals, their competitiveness driving the story forward at a steady pace. Of course, holding back on the juicy parts you know are coming but not quite sure when is what the author does exceedingly well in all of her books. And if the title doesn’t pique your curiosity, I don’t know what will!

I got the feeling that the author’s a dab hand at making cupcakes with a difference. How on earth would she have been able to come up with so many filling and outrageous topping if not? Throw into the mix a couple of unique cocktails served in Buttercream and Booze, good beer and chicken wings that would most likely melt in my mouth in The Knight Cap next door, and I’m game to try out what’s on the menu in either establishment.

I bellyache laughed with Helena’s characters’ fashion likes. Firstly, to say that Blaire Calloway’s retro attire didn’t capture my attention would be a fib. Ooh, my! Who on earth wears petticoats nowadays? And Ronan Knight; you might not be keen too on the lumberjack look, but he pulls it off to a tee. And the black-rimmed glasses...no freaking words!

What bowled me over was this young lady’s hard-working attitude, her aptitude for business and enthusiasm. While doing her utmost to resolve problems, listening to any wild ideas from whoever is a no-go. In contrast, Ronan’s a bit of a dreamer. I yearned for his dream to come true and never held this against him because, well, who on earth would want to water down this slightly cantankerous but gorgeous guy’s spirits? No pun intended!

Their smaller businesses are faced with challenging competition, things get sticky and these two have to decide whether it’s worth joining forces. I loved how the author put a spin on the big-fish-small-pond concept, that she gave her protagonists the will to hold their own, to fight for what they want on all fronts.

Although I thoroughly enjoyed the tweets at the end of each chapter, I thought a couple of recipes would have gone down a treat. Lol, especially the sugary frosted glazings! I also liked learning the ins and outs of Blaire and Ronan’s families. Despite hers having their peculiarities, not only did they make me smile, but I also understood where they were going. Ronan’s grandad is such an adorable character that I’d make him mine at the drop of a hat, and the rapport he has with his brothers is fabulous!

Ronan and Blaire’s flirty banter had me roaring with laughter but when they can no longer ignore their feelings, it wasn’t only the pages that got heated up! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this sweet-as-sugar romance perfect to get lost in on a summer’s day. Bravo, Hunting!
Starry-Eyed Love, book two in the Spark House series is one read you don’t want to miss! I’d already established that I am a glutton for Hunting’s storytelling a while back, so when the first line grabbed my attention, that was it. I was all in! If you haven’t read When Sparks Fly, don’t get your knickers in a twist! Both books can be read and enjoyed as standalones. Now it’s the Spark middle sister’s turn, London.

If there were ever a more endearing encounter, it has to be London and Jackson Holt’s. But my curiosity wasn’t just piqued by the way she graciously turned him down, it was her fidgetiness. I adored how she put her energy to good use; however, bringing in events for the family-run hotel keeps her a little too busy to dedicate the time to her side business cum-hobby.

Although the girls get on well together, there’s a certain amount of friction regarding decision-making. And I liked this a lot because working alongside family isn’t always what it is made out to be. London’s determined to pull off a deal, but I wasn't the only one left aghast when the least expected person presented themselves at the negotiating table. Guess who’s all suited up and ready to listen to London’s ideas for Spark House’s future?

Jackson’s strategic way of thinking delighted me, but would London be able to cope with all the business jargon? Wow, you could have cut their chemistry with a knife too, but hold on—Hunting reveals his reasons for not mixing business with pleasure at an enjoyable reading pace. So, not only did I learn what made him tick, but also London’s doubts.

Once again, Hunting has seamlessly delivered a romance packed full of emotions. Her plot and characters have depth, the banter is off the charts, and the setting is so life-like that you’d wish you were there. Now I’m keeping my fingers crossed that Hunting gives us Harley’s story. Bravo!

All the standalone novels in the Spark House series are must-reads but Make a Wish has a special place in my heart. After finishing Starry-Eyed Love, I was itching to get my hands on the youngest Spark sister’s story. And what a poignant story Hunting has told.

Harley Spark. Innocent but competent beyond her young years, she’s got everything under control as a loving and considerate nanny—just until. Fast forward. It’s not easy to forget when there’s no closure, and the guy she’d worked for is back. Get a box of tissues ready, ladies and gents. Hunting’s bitter-sweet offering overwhelmed me with emotion.

Gavin. From the moment Hunting introduced him, his thoughts consumed me. Putting his daughter and heart first gave me no option but to have his back. Though here’s the catch, I found myself rallying for Harley more. Maybe because she had a lot on her plate at the hotel, or perhaps her dreams seemed impossible to achieve, whatever the reason, this overly considerate lass gained my respect and had me cracking smiles.

Anything family is my cuppa, Hunting putting conflicting matters into perspective. Observing the differences, Harley and Gavin want their relations to respect their wishes. But even before thinking about that, finding their happy medium is foremost. Hunting underlined the importance of voicing one’s feelings, regardless of the hurt it could cause, with the utmost graciousness.

Now what I liked most. Not being sure what was on the cards—there were times when the tension got the better of me. Neither am I ashamed to admit that sassy banter is my thing. Stong tick here because Hunting is an ace at giving just that. Hot hero with all the pluses. No doubt about it! And a kid with an uncanny vision that made me wish she were mine—double that tenfold ‘coz it was love at first sight.

If I could make a wish, it would be to see more of these gals and their men at Spark House. However, all good things come to an end, and what an ending it was. Simply bravo, Hunting!

You know when you’ve made your mind up from the word go—that it’s your kind of read to sink your teeth into without even reading more chapters? Yes, that was me! Get ready, lovers of fur babes; Hunting doesn’t just delve into the mascot world; she’s given us another perspective of their caring intricacies in A Love Catastrophe. Hunting’s playful humour tangled in doses of romance is cracking up material. Yeap, laugh-out-loud isn’t in it. More like needed pain-snorting stress relief! Sounds a little over the top, doesn’t it? Hmm, anything that this author writes is what the doctor ordered.

So, who in this story loves cats there and back to infinity and who loves doggie caring just because? Hunting throwing in a loop and a half isn’t in it, but I’ll start with Kitty Hart, the upbeat cat whisperer who wears her heart on her sleeve. If you aren’t a felinophile, reading about her namesake occupation and her warm-hearted abilities will not only make you want one, you’ll be feeding strays!

Here enters our so-called hero, Miles Thorn. Right—I’m not being entirely fair because he’s too gorgeously geeky for his own sake without even cottoning on to it. Indeed my kind of man. Not only was I taken aback by his stick-in-the-mud attitude, his need for sound advice notched him up to a more affectionate level. Nothing like being a little bit humble, is there? In a nutshell, his mum’s kitty cat needs looking after under concerning circumstances sold me. Goodness, me! Who would have such pet-naming creativity if it weren’t for this author? Please—Prince Francis, or what! Screaming with laughter because his cat-purring genes were lacking big time! And Wilfried, the dog! I’d take him out for walkies any day!

Kitty and Mile’s story isn’t all forever roses and sunshine. Being honest with each other has a slow-burn feel that will keep readers on alert—love, love, love, gradual build-ups. When they begin to open up to each other, ooh my, the word heart-breaking takes on a different meaning. Harsh-affecting hectoring and family issues come to light, undoing me. I could have smashed my ebook into smithereens if it weren’t for Hunting’s storytelling sensitivity.

What can I say about Hunting’s word-building art? She’s fleshed out the rough with the smooth, giving her readers two very likeable characters and their backstories in a book hard to put down. I can’t recommend this pet-friendly and at times tearful rom-com I read snuggled up with my pup enough. Bravo, Hunting!

Many thanks to Forever (Grand Central Publishing) and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
My word! I’ve just finished this scorching hot office romance and never thought I’d devour Love in Lingerie without coming up for breath! But there’s an anecdote as to why I chose this particular novel. I’d heard about it through the bookish grapevine, one-clicked and low and behold—it was sitting pretty on my eReader!

Torre’s tension-building storytelling is a luxuriously decadent, breathtakingly slow burn and exceedingly well-paced read. I adored how her protagonists had an ultimate goal, needing each other’s business expertise for the success of a flailing company. And the Him and Her chapters narrated in the first-person present day give readers a bird’s eye view of their thoughts, too. So, learning how they felt about their off-limits sizzling workplace attraction brought out every possible emotion, yet my heart sang while observing them become best friends. That, of course, is the least of it and one of the reasons I gave Trey Marks a wide berth.

Trey is in big trouble! His sex on legs, and at an age when he can’t envisage having a solid relationship, especially seeing he has particular tastes I’d sooner not mention. Kate Martin doesn’t only challenge him workwise, but she also gets under his skin, silently questioning him. In turn, he gives Kate a run for her money by showing another side she didn’t think he had in him. Is this the genuine Trey, though? Food for thought, eh?

If I swooned over Trey, Kate left her mark on me tenfold. Wow, she is so perfectly perfect that I even tried to find fault in her persona, coming up with one big zero. Perceptive, hard-working and quick to take the bull by its horns, her wit floored me. At times, it felt like her and Trey’s impassioned battle had no end and less beginning. However, with Torre’s stamp, she gives her readers an inkling of hope.

Torre’s plot overrides sensuality verging on erotism, leaving me in awe of her words. Also, I am an incorrigible banter snob and oh boy, did she deliver. If you enjoy reading about characters in a port of storm that has just about everything you can or cannot imagine, this is it! Bravo, Torre!
Torre always guarantees her readers sit-on-the-edge-of-your-seat suspense, and she doesn’t disappoint with A Familiar Stranger. What I like about her storytelling is she keeps you guessing. And ooh boy, did she get me with this one! From the beginning to the end, mystery abounds, and the thrill of this unconventional story is how I saw her heroine’s state of affairs and interpreted it. But Torre ensures that what one sees or believes is far from cut and dry.

Lillian Smith’s reality isn’t the norm. In a rut of sorts, her job writing obituaries and not such fabulous home life, I found surprisingly fascinating. I have a suspicion that she wouldn't think the same as me. Entertaining her followers by writing speculatively fun if not morbid Tweets is only the tip of the iceberg. Her quirky humour dampened when things backfire; I couldn’t have understood her frustration more.

Lillian slips easily into a habit that troubled me. Escapism at its worse, could she control it because I had certainly had my doubts. Doubts that led to the never expected blew my mind away. While this was going on, she trusted the circumstance. To me, it felt like watching a train wreck about to happen, and she had no blinking idea. However, I observed a happier woman who became more comfortable with herself, and I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed the new sassy Lillian. Therefore I can’t help but raise my glass to her, and whatever conscious actions she’d chosen to do were fine by me.

Did her husband notice that change in his wife, who he’d been neglecting? Even bigger question. What was he hiding? And her best friend? Torre fooled me into believing the goodie was a baddie and vice versa. Well, there was one person I loved to bits. Whether they were a drinking partner or confidant, even someone to pass the time and let off steam, I was so grateful that Torre developed such a marvellous character.

Not only does Torre grab your attention from the word go, but she also challenges her readers. What was coming, I never envisaged for a minute, and that frustrated me as I like to think I can work out who the wrongdoer is. Her spectacular narrative makes for a psychological thriller that keeps you in a state of uncertainty, waiting for more. The finale! Quite brilliant. Simply bravo, Torre!
