This was a fun, cute, and relaxing read that read like the best screwball movie. In equal turns this felt modern like the movie How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and classic like I Love Lucy and that dichotomy really drew me in and held me. I loved how this book used an ironic twist of using a 1950's Dating Guide as the crux of the In Joke the reader was in on. This was a good read with banter and passion, personal reflection and a discussion of gender perspectives that will resonate with readers who enjoy a Battle of Sexes vibe.
One Sentence Review: With strong banter and a fun twist on a classic theme, The Rom Com was a quest weekend read!
Three and A Half Stars rounded up to four.

This as a wonderfully sweet and clean romance that just bring all the warmth of a bright sunny day into your heart. A good solid quick read that can be turned to just to remind you about the power of friendship, connection, logo he and family in a great small town setting.
This is a good read if you are looking for a clean story that really fits those days when you just want to escape. Even though you know how the book will go from page one, you want to read how it will play out because you enjoy the characters and their simpler world than our own.
This book gives you all the warm fuzzy feelings that signify Fall and happy reading. Presley Ayers is a City Girl and she know knows it, but who also knows that a relationship means more than just what she knows she likes. In her attempt to bring more to their relationship, Presley plans a vacation to the Get Lost Lodge that will show how.much she is will to learn and share to her boyfriend. But what she finds is a great new world of romantic love, family and understanding. This well written romantic comedy that is perfect for any Lifetime movie fan. If snuggling up to watch a well plotted Netflix original is A great night in, this is a hit for you
With the right amount of romance to add that extra bit of tingling to this story and a great does of what was done in the past cannot be forgotten, this story of Past crimes and small town cover-up finally coming to light will keep you, like me flipping pages and wondering what happens next when you can't be reading! Blaise is such a wonderfully written character that you will be cheering her on from page three when she finds out about the election race and who is running for office. When she vows that now is the moment to return home, you will be right there for her, the victim, the town, and the story and you will not want to go anywhere except stick by her side to watch this story unfold. This book does address SA, so read with caution if you need.
This book read much like this punchy title. With the missing The that softens the feel, this book drew me with a good strong conflict. I particularly enjoyed that social media is a key plot device that brings Sophie and Dash together. In what ways do we productively use stress to bring out our best, and the flip side of that coin is how does this also find the weak points in our armor? This is what I found truly engaging in this book for both the FMC and the MMC are dealing with these questions while finding strength in the growing connection to each other. A good slow burn romance that will leave you thinking about addictions, love, and motivation all the while rooting for this pair!
This was an unusual read that spoke to me at a little more of a deeper emotional level than most romances do, and I really enjoyed that. However because of the extra time taken to develop the tensions and each characters unique characteristics. The empathy and presentation of difference here was well written but be prepared for a slow burn romance that will ask of lot you as a reader, but it is a powerful story that will leave you wiping away a tear and smiling as well.
This book is one that stay with you long after you close the covers. The story lingers and leaves you reflecting, considering, and pondering not just the characters but power of legacy, family, and personal identity. Blend in some compelling Magical Realism to take the tension and mystery up another notch and any reader will be left affected by the original and haunting book that still intrigues me. I was particularly drawn in by the conflict that was eloquently included iand kept drawing me deeper.
How will the cover connect to the larger narrative and story? Will the duality of the cover, deep ocean with the jellyfish vs and the land with the loose dirt act clues to the larger mystery or will they be metaphors that I should consider part of the novel's argument? Will the narrator be the rich black soil that was the foundation for cotton and slavery or the ownership of the land that was the plantation owner? Jellyfish are beautiful to look at but deadly in their element, yet take them out of that specific world and they almost dissolve in the fragility? There is so much that connects me and which draws me in and resonates to makes me feel uncertain and uncomfortable, something to be embraced and which challenged me to investigate and discover how all these contradictions and pieces work together which this author excelles at.
This is a book you do not simply read, but one that you explore!

This was a most delightful read and had some truly laugh out loud moments and a sizzling chemistry to rival any of the more serious romances I have read However this book had an intriguing element of showcasing how much people can grow and develop into themselves and in so doing reexamine what it means to have a second chance at love. What starts off as odd competition s aimed at garnering ratings, allows Kit and Andie to deal with the aspects of themselves that once kept them apart. This was a great contemporary romance that offers more than just a quick escape of a read.

This book was original and very engaging. I found myself falling into this story within the first chapter with a lot of questions and wonderment, a good mark for the world building of any story because the drive to know more means I am engaged and care about the characters. However, this did slow the base of the book quite drastically for what I was expecting in a YA novel. I found Nieve to be young woman that I rooted for, she defines herself by her actions and responses to the challenges she has to face and does not let her status as a non magical limit her in the way that others expect her to.
This book was a slow burn romance and slow starting book and up until about 1/3 of the way in did the action really begin. I know this Book One of a series, so in total this may be a smaller part of the series, but I would have liked more action sooner to reflect the last two thirds of the book. The romance was a surprise and so was the ending! I will be back for the next book to see were the romance, action, and world building take me.
Thank you L E Sterling, Entangled Teen, and NetGalley for the ARC of the novel that I read

Elizabeth Everett has such a vivid writing style that I was immediately transported to Victorian London as soon as I fell into this book. Lucy and Thorne have a wonderful relationship that truly allows the reader to encounter the a world of less gender equality than our own and highlight how special their relationship is because of that. There was a bit of biting my tongue and swallowing my objections to the way events and Lucy's story was presented, but this is not anything the author did wrong. Again, this is a reaction to the world that Lucy lives in, a world she was created by, and a world that is so different from our own. This is vital aspect of the novel and a key point for the reader to consider. There is are some non-Victorian era aspects to please the modern reader like the spicy scenes and the conflict at the heart of the book.
In a sentence a beautifully written, well researched, and delightful book!

There are so many wonderful layers to this story that truly bridges the romance and women's fiction genres. There is such wonder s3x-ual tension between the leads in the book from their very first meeting until the end. And I love that this book is about more that a meet cute, delayed get together, riding the bus off into the sunset, the which is so over done these days. This book involves a wonderfully written single point of view story told entirely though Alice Cooper's perspective that allows you to stay voiced as a reader and really fall into Alice's thoughts and growth. .
Alice Cooper has had a rough go of it in the past few months, and is in The UK for a Bucket List Bus Tour of Literary England and Scotland to escape for a while, but in the best rom com fashion this trip turns out not to be a trip to avoid reality but a way to confront it though the misunderstandings, miscommunications, and mistakes that only a road trip can offer. This bus trip Is filled with most wonderful group of senior women who each offer something powerful in their lived experience, compassion and humor to help Alice while stealing every scene they are. If you loved The Best Exotic Marigold, Calender Girls, or When you see a movie with Maggie Smith, Judi Bench or Kathy Bates you know it will be a fabulous journey, then you will not want to miss this heartfelt and humorous romance that will have you looking to see if there is a Boducia Tournyou can book.
This is not my last book by Kat Mackenzie. Her writing is beautifully vivid, delightfully complex, and excitingingly nuanced. This is want in a grown up romance -- a journey filled with heart and human experience!
Thank you NetGalley, and Avon Books for sharing an arc of this book with me.
