Synopsis
Every day Edward Dadd watches the men and women who come to no. 6 Cook’s Alley to sell their stories to his employer, Aubrey Taverner - who gathers their harrowing experiences with complete indifference.
When his twin sister dies, Edward finds himself being enticed by Aubrey Taverner into a world which fascinates him, the suffocating atmosphere of Cook’s Alley obsessing him as he becomes unconnected to the world with no apparent past.
But why is Taverner warning him off, and, more chillingly, what is his sister trying to tell him from beyond the grave? Sometimes there is nothing more deadly than curiosity....
