About the author
Vithal Rajan, O.C., B.A. Hons (McGill) and PhD (LSE), has worked as an offi cer at ICI, Canada; a mediator for the Church in Belfast in the 1970s; and later as founding faculty at the School of Peace Studies, University of Bradford, UK; Chair of World Studies, International School of Geneva; Director, World-Wide Fund for Nature International, Switzerland; and Executive Director, the Right Livelihood Award Foundation, Sweden (also known as the Alternative Nobel Prize). He has also founded several Indian NGOs, and was made an Offi cer of the Order of Canada for lifelong service to humanity. Vithal Rajan is the author of several books of fi ction and plays, including Sharmaji, Padmashree (Writers? Workshop, 2006, and Konark Publishers, 2013); Holmes of the Raj (Random House India, 2010); Th e Year of High Treason (Rupa, 2011); and Mangues de Tara (Heures Bleues, Montreal, 2011).'
