My first Charles Dickens mystery was published in 2012. There are now eight books in the series, and I'm still reading his novels, letters and biographies for clues about murder and insights into the murderers' minds.

Behind the books
The life of Charles Dickens is the background to the books. Dickens went out with the police to explore London's criminal underworld. This what gave me the inspiration for the books. One biographer said that he would have liked to be a detective - I gave him the chance. I thought he'd be good at it. He was always observant, so his friends said. He could remember the contents of a room and the people in it even if he didn't seem to be looking. He understood human nature and the psychology of the murderer - there are plenty of murderers in his books. He wa svery good at working out a chain of events for his plots. All these make him ideal as an investigator of crime. And he cared about justice, especially for the poor. He wants to find out who did it - and why.
