Stephen Bentley is a former Detective Sergeant, pioneering undercover cop, and barrister who practised criminal law mainly defending in jury trials in London and the provinces. He wrote about his undercover Operation Julie days in a frank memoir soon to be published by Ebury Press (Penguin Random House UK). He is also an occasional contributor to Huffington Post UK on mental health and undercover policing. His memoir is optioned and is now in the development stage as a feature film. Stephen also writes crime fiction including his Steve Regan Undercover Cop and Detective Matt Deal thrillers series. A native of Accrington, raised in Liverpool, Stephen now lives, writes, and drinks cold beer in the Philippines. Stephen is a member of the UK’s Society of Authors, the Alliance of Independent Authors, and the Crime Writers’ Association.
